The German Ocean Foundation is committed, together with partners from business, politics, research, science and society, to preserving the ocean habitat for the benefit of future generations.
To this end, they initiate a variety of projects.
With the media and research vessel ALDEBARAN, they undertake research expeditions on topics such as coral bleaching or plastics in bodies of water. With their marine competition, they have been motivating young scientists to achieve peak performance for our oceans for 17 years and also create educational materials for all age groups on all kinds of marine topics.
In addition, they develop measuring devices and processes to track down plastic waste and banish it from our oceans. They are involved with a large number of partners within the framework of the UN Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development, for example through a permanent exhibition on the museum ship Cap San Diego in Hamburg or the Ocean Festival in Berlin.
